Thomas H. Young

Thomas Henry Young, 94, of Waupaca went to his heavenly home on September 4, 2023. He resided at Bethany Home for several years. He was born on November 25, 1928 in Milwaukee, to the late George and Marie (Brenner) Young.

Tom served his country during WWII from 1945-47. When he returned home from the war, he married Jacqueline O'Connor in June of 1948 in Milwaukee. She preceded him in death on April 20, 1977. He was a journeyman machinist until 1952 when he landed a career at A.O. Smith Corp. in Milwaukee where he was employed for the next thirty years. He married Jeanette Czerwinski on December 4, 1982 in Milwaukee, and they moved to Waupaca, WI.

Outside of work, Tom had a strong passion for being outdoors. He enjoyed deer and duck hunting, fishing, and always made a diligent effort to take good care of his home. He also found joy in gathering with family and friends to play cards. Poker, sheepshead and cribbage were his favorite. Tom liked to play pool too and joined a pool league. He wanted to share the love of the game, and was able to teach his grandkids how to play. During the cold months, he strived to maintain his fireplace and had enough wood chopped to endure the long winters. One of his days wouldn't have been complete without a beer and a shot of Brandy. Tom enjoyed retired life in Waupaca with Jeanette, and being close to his family. He made many friends while living here. One of his most memorable trips was The Honor Flight. He loved to go on gambling trips and take day trips to the casino.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanette; children: John (Nadine) Young, Jeff (Cyndi) Young, Chris Weismueller, Debbie Pocochich, Carol Czerwinski, Bill Czerwinski, Jon (Jennifer) Czerwinski; 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and Foster Daughter: Donna Van Airsdale.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law: Richard (Mickey) Young; son-in-law, Dan Weismueller; son, Clifford Czerwinski; grandson, Matthew Czerwinski.

A Funeral Mass for Tom will be held on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at 11:00 AM at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Waupaca. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 AM - 10:45 AM. Full Military Honors will be observed at the church following the Mass. Interment will be at St. Bridget's Catholic Cemetery in Westford, Wisconsin.
