He was born 11-15-46 in Minneapolis MN to Linton and Irene Lehrer. He grew up moving around Minnesota, due to different teaching jobs his father had. His mother was an RN, and always worked, often in the evenings. Steve experienced his dad cooking most evenings, and decided to be a better cook himself, and so he was a good cook. He went to University of Minnesota, getting two Bachelors degrees, traveled the world for 4 years and spent 1 1/2 of those years teaching English in Japan. Upon return decided to get a Masters in ESL, which he did at San Francisco State University. He met Louise Hotvedt in Minneapolis before going to CA for his masters, and they went together. Louise was a nurse there while he finished school and taught ESL in Berkeley. They married at So Lake Tahoe CA 02-21-81, nearly got to the 40 year mark. They went to Saudi Arabia, where he taught at University of Petroleum and Minerals for 4 years, back to CA, Sacramento that time for 16 years, where he spend many years at University of CA Davis teaching ESL, and he retired from there. Then here to Wisconsin, Amherst Junction, in 2004 to be near Louise’s family. He is survived by brother Tim (Diane Schnedler) Lehrer, Minnetonka MN, sister Becky (Ray) Mazorol, Edina MN, brother Mike Lehrer, Richfield MN, and brother Eric (Lisa) Lehrer in Owatonna MN, and many nieces and nephews. Also the in-laws on Hotvedt side are very much his loving family. Wonderful guy, great sense of humor, showed Airedale terriers, and then also bred them and raised puppies and it was the greatest joy in his life. Many Airedale friends will miss him too.
