Royal Vernon Wasrud Jr.
July 16, 1931 — December 1, 2019
Royal V. Wasrud Jr. age 88, of Scandinavia, went peacefully at home to be with his Lord Jesus and reunited with his beloved wife, Eileen and Son, Randy on Sunday, December 1, 2019. Royal was born on July 16, 1931, in Monticello, Wisconsin to Josephine Moser and Royal Wasrud Sr. He was united in marriage to Eileen Erickson on June 16, 1956. She preceded him in death on April 8, 2017.
Royal was a kind and humble man, known for his strong work ethic. Royal loved animals, enjoyed painting, and during the summer; working in his large garden. Royal was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Iola. He worked side by side with his wife Eileen and son Randy on their registered holstein dairy farm; Royeen Acres, for over 40 years until they both retired in their 70's. Royal in his earlier years, (while still farming) enjoyed running in 10K races, and prior to farming, worked at the Waupaca Foundry.
Royal is survived by Children: Julie (Randy) Nelson, Debra (Douglas) Fletcher, Bonnie (Steve) Petit, Lori (Cory) Elmhorst, Daughter in law: Krissy Wasrud, Grandchildren: Jaclyn (Tom) Carpenter, Andrew (Megan) Fletcher, Nathan (Karie) Fletcher, Benjamin (Erin) Fletcher, Timothy (Ericka) Fletcher, Heather (Scott) Springer, Robert Tetzlaff, Melissa (Robert) Woytasik, Tia Petit, Rayelynn Wasrud, Ryan Elmhorst, Josh Elmhorst, Danielle Elmhorst and 18 great grandchildren. Brothers: Donald (Dawn) Wasrud, Robert (Peg) Wasrud, Sister in law: Christine Wasrud. He was preceded in death by His Wife; Eileen, Son: Randy Wasrud, Sister: Dorothy Wasrud and Brother: Keith Wasrud.
Funeral Service will be held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Iola, Wisconsin, at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 5th, with Reverend Alyssa Weaver officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday 4-7 PM. at Voie Funeral Home and at the church on Thursday 10-11 AM. Interment will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Iola. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses at ThedaCare Medical Center in Waupaca, and ThedaCare Hospice for the compassionate care they gave to Royal during his stay.
Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life; He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die".
