Ronald "Ron" W Rosenthal

Ronald W. Rosenthal, 80, of Scandinavia passed away on June 2, 2023.  He was born on October 16, 1942 in Shawano, to the late William and Cecelia (Singer) Rosenthal. Ron married Jo Ann Poppy on September 24, 1966 in Scandinavia.

Ron graduated from Iola High School where he was active in baseball and basketball.  He was the first person from Iola to be named to the All-state basketball team.  He also graduated from UWSP.

Ron's family was his world. He never missed an opportunity to support them. He would be at dance recitals, concerts, tractor pulls, and (of course) sporting events.  He was proud of his collection of old cars, some which he has had since his teens.  He played baseball for the Scandinavia Vikings until Tracy joined him on the team.  After he retired Willie joined the team.  RJ still plays for the Vikings and Ron never missed a game.

He is survived by his wife Jo Ann of 56 years,
Children:  Tracy Rosenthal and his family: Chyaine (Hans) Waldoch, Beau Rosenthal and Zachary Rosenthal.

Jaci (Brad) Bartel and their family: Brittany (Alex) Stroik and their children Emmett & Elsie.  Brandon (Mckenzie) Bartel and Brogan (Brady) Deuman and their child Lainey.

Willie (Chris) Rosenthal and their family: Lybie, Katie & Bella.

RJ (Sara) Rosenthal and their family: Ryleigh, Quinn and Tate.

Sisters & Brothers in law: Linda Lehman, Marie & Daryl Leudke, Pat & Al Hogan. Nancy & Dan Johnson and "lifelong friend Allie Thulien.

Ron was preceded in death by father, William Rosenthal; mother, Cecelia Rosenthal.  Brother Douglas Rosenthal, Sister Gloria Rosenthal and Sister in law:  Sue Schroeder and her children: Brett & Shannan.

The Funeral Service for Ronald will be held on Wednesday June 7, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Scandinavia Lutheran Church with Reverend Kent Wallace officiating. Visitation will be held at Voie Funeral Home in Iola on Tuesday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and at the Church on Wednesday from 9:30 AM -10:45 AM  Interment will be at Scandinavia Lutheran Cemetery.

Also: In lieu of  flowers a contribution may be made to the Scandinavia Viking Baseball club for a bench.
