Roger D. Melum

Roger Duane Melum, age 85, of Iola, passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2022. He was born on May 15, 1936 son of the late Irvin & Alma (Rivrud) Melum. He married Angeline Nowak on Oct 15, 1960. She preceded him in death on February 8, 1990. Roger later married Marilyn Jansen in 1993. Roger was a truck driver for numerous trucking companies throughout his career. He loved his John Deer Tractors and has quite a collection of them. He liked hanging out with the Melum boys during the gun hunting season and picking apples from his apple tree in the back yard as well as riding around the yard in his golf cart. Roger is survived by his wife Marilyn, children: John (Susie) Melum, Victoria Melum, daughter-in-law; Carla Jager. grandchildren: Tyler (Kellie) Melum, Brad (Angie) Melum, Rachel (Cody) Larsen, Josh (Cindy) Melum, Mason Melum, Ashley (Aaron Schmidt) Melum, and Cody Hanson. great-grandchildren: Carlie, Cole, Archer, Axl, Lily and one more due this summer; stepsons: Mark Casperson and Roy (Kimberly) Casperson. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife: Angie; son: Joseph; siblings: Julian, Maynard, Ernie, Lavern, Walter, Harold and Audrey; stepson: Walter Casperson. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at 1:00 PM at the Voie Funeral Home in Iola with Reverend Dan Somers, officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 11:00 AM - 12:45 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery in Iola. The family would like to thank Robin Christianson and Chris Hamilton for the excellent care, they provided to Roger.
