Mona L. Smith age 81, of Waupaca, passed away Tuesday, October 29th, at ThedaCare Medical Center in Waupaca. Mona was born in Waupaca on October 3, 1938, a daughter of the late Katherine M. (Johnson) and Levi M. Hansen. Mona graduated from Waupaca High School in 1957. She married Gerald "Snuffy" Smith on Sept. 5, 1959 in Waupaca. Mona worked as a payroll clerk at Riverside Medical Center for 40 years. She was also an owner of Cinnamon House and Gifts in King since 1991. Mona was a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca where she was very active on various committees. She enjoyed traveling to Florida each winter with Snuff; always looked forward to spending time with her family and was an avid Packer fan.
Survivors include her Husband: Gerald, Daughters: Julie (Pat) Kesler, Linda (Brian) Hoelzel and Lori (Jason) Pagel all of Waupaca. Grandchildren: Christopher (Ashley ) Kesler & Sam Kesler, Emma Pagel, Carter & Bennett Hoelzel, Great Granddaughter: Mia Kesler, Brother: Donald (Kathy) Hansen, Niece: Tina (Todd) Jensen, Nephew: Tim (Patti) Hansen, and Sister in law: Judy Schwemm. Mona is also survived by other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by an infant son and grandson: Tyler Hoelzel.
A Memorial Service for Mona will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 9th, with Pastor Andy Behrendt officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00 AM -11:00 AM. at the church. A private interment will be later in the Parfreyville Cemetery in the Town of Dayton, Waupaca County, Wisconsin.
The family would like to thank the nurses of ThedaCare, ThedaCare Hospice and Pastors Andy and Dione for the excellent care provided to Mona and her family.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory of Mona to the Trinity Lutheran Scholarship Fund or ThedaCare at Home Hospice.
