On December 23, 2019, Matt lost his battle with addiction; he was 32. Matt was born on March 19, 1987 and lived most of his life in Waupaca, Wisconsin, where he graduated from Waupaca High School in 2005. Over the years Matt worked at the Waupaca Foundry and held a variety of positions in local restaurant kitchens. Matt was a sports enthusiast and his favorite teams were the Chicago Blackhawks and the Green Bay Packers. Matt loved hockey and enjoyed playing during his childhood and teen years. Matt was an avid country music lover and collector of Garth Brooks memorabilia. He also had a secret love of cats. Matt was known for his quick wit and infectious smile and was bright, sensitive and kind. Matt is survived by his mother Laura (Scott) Bailey; father Brian (Crystal) brothers Conner and Cody David; sister Samantha (Ryan) Laswell and his nieces Finnleigh and Elowen; brother Hunter Bailey; grandparents Duane (Lorraine) Linden and George (Myra) David; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Most important, Matt was a loving father and treasured his beautiful daughter, Ally David (Jodi Anderson). Matt’s death has been devastating to his family and countless friends, and he will be missed more than can be described. Services will be private. Arrangements entrusted to Voie Funeral Home, Iola WI.
