Marlyn "Jake" Alton Jacobson

January 19, 1937 — March 23, 2019

Marlyn "Jake" Alton Jacobson, 82 of Scandinavia was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on March 23rd at Crossroads Care Center in Waupaca due to complications of Alzheimer's Disease. His loving family was by his side.  Jake was born in the town of Iola, Wisconsin on January 19, 1937, a son of the late Vivian Adeline (Larson) and Rudolph Edmund Jacobson.  He married Diane Erickson on August 26, 1961 at Northland Lutheran Church in Iola.Jake was full of life and always had a smile on his face. He was a devoted husband and family man who loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was playful by nature and thoroughly enjoyed telling a good joke and making people laugh. Ski jumping, hunting, camping, boating, playing cards or a round of golf with family and friends was amongst his favorite things to do.  Day or night Jake was willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed help.  He was active in the community and for many years he was a supporter of the Iola Winter Sports Club, Iola Lions Club and the Scandinavia Booster Club. He was a volunteer firefighter for the Scandinavia Fire Department. Jake was also a long time member of Scandinavia Lutheran Church.  He served in the United States Army 325th Airborne Infantry Regt.  He is survived by hisWife:   Diane Jacobson,Children:   Greg Jacobson, of Scandinavia,Joe Jacobson, of Amherst,Penni Jacobson, of Napa, California,Lisa Jacobson, of Milwaukee.12 - Grandchildren, 9 - Great Grandchildren,  Sister:  Janet Gunderson and Brother: Gary (Susan) Jacobson both of Iola.  He was preceded in death by Brother in law:  Eugene "Peanuts' Gunderson.  He is also survived by nieces and nephews other relatives and friends.The Funeral Service will be held at Scandinavia Lutheran Church at 12 Noon on Thursday, March 28th, with Reverend Mark Sabin officiating.  Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday 10:30 am - 12 Noon. Interment will be in the Scandinavia Lutheran Cemetery.Monetary gifts will be donated to memory care organizations, selected by family, in Jake's honor.
