Lucille E Swenson

Lucille E. Swenson,89,of Iola, passed peacefully on Friday February 3,2023 at her home. She was born on April,20,1933 in Iola to Lorin & Lenore(Jones) Larson. Lucille married Merlin Swenson on April 20,1952 at our savior’s Lutheran church in Iola. He preceded her in death on October 10,2010. Lucille was an ambitious worker starting at the Iola hospital at a young age. She also worked along with Merlin at his family run theater in Iola. She graduated High school in 1951. After she married, she devoted her life to being a loving mother, grandmother & great grandmother. She was a gifted cook & baker excelling at Norwegian pastries. She was a long time member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a life time member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Family time was divided between the house in town, the farm and the cottage in Rhinelander where decades of happy memories were made. Lucille enjoyed listening to polka music, taking road trips, playing cards and all things involving family. She is survived by her children: Allan Swenson, Iola; Geraldine “Geri”(Scott) Sannes, Scandinavia; Donna(Ben) Guthu, Scandinavia; and Lynn Swenson, Iola. She is also survived by grandchildren: Melissa Sannes, Kevin(Bobbie) Sannes, Rachel(Brian)Mefferd, Kyle(Courtney)Guthu, Kayla Guthu, Jace Guthu, Jackee Swenson, Lyndy Gavin,& Nick Swenson. Great grandchildren Kadin, Kyler, Malia, Elyn, Audrina, Summer, Finn, Aralyn, Oliver & Ryver. Sister in Laws: Barb Larson, Janice(Roger)Clapp, Cousins and nieces & nephews. She is preceded in death by her son Lee, sisters Bev & Violet, brother Russel, brother & sister in laws, Nieces,& Nephews. Visitation Feb.10th 10AM. Memorial service at 11AM all at Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Pastor Dale Wilson officiating. Special thanks to Lynn, Kayla,& ProMedica Hospice for their loving care.
