Kristofor Curt Krueger Kristofor C. Krueger of Iola passed away on May 25th, 2022 at the age of 47. He was born October 31st, 1974. Family always came first to Kris. Kris married Tonya Summers on November 11th, 2013, and they became everything to each other. When they first met, they enjoyed talking to each other for hours on end, much to the chagrin of certain movie theater employees. Kris was a wonderful, proud and attentive Father to his sons. They will all miss him dearly. Kris is survived by his wife Tonya and four sons Kolden, Ryder, Aaron, and Kaden; his parents Kurt and Kathy Krueger; brother Kim (Annie) Krueger and sister Kalli (Jason) Lewis; Grandmother Isabel Janovetz and Grandpa Bob Carothers; Nieces and Nephews Morgan, Sean, Braeden, Maleah, Keera, Jason, and Everleigh. Kris was preceded in death by Grandparents Robert Krueger, Rita Carothers, and Edward Janovetz. THERE WILL BE A CELEBRATION OF LIFE for KRIS KRUEGER: Friday June 10th from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. At the IOLA WINTER SPORTS CLUB COMPLEX - E398 County Road MM - IOLA - Bring Comfortable Seating! Light Refreshments will be served. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations at https://mealtrain.com/0800r3. Kris worked as a welder/fabricator most recently at Marion Body Works. This was where he started his career welding, and after working at a few other places returned to where he began. He was able to put these skills to use making rescue equipment, tanks, the occasional oversized fishing lure, and more than one inappropriate hotdog cooker. He enjoyed his career at Marion and the people he worked with. In between his career stints at Marion Body Works, Kris worked at Apache Stainless in Plover and Seagrave in Clintonville. In his free time Kris enjoyed the outdoors, whether hunting, fishing, helping keep the beaver population in check or just hanging out at the hundred acre woods. He was always helpful, like that time Dad drove the boat around in clear, shallow water in the Sturgeon Bay Ship Channel and Kris had to wade in just below waist deep freezing cold water to put the prop back on; or the various times a truck or four-wheeler was imbedded in marl, the mud flat of the the creek, or the deep snows at the hundred acre woods! Kris gained much of his early mechanical knowledge and skill at Jano Trucking working alongside his Grandfather, Edward Janovetz, together with his Uncles John, Donald, and Michael at their over-the-road trucking operation. These early lessons served him well over the years. He was often praised for the quality of his work and the attention to detail he brought to his vocation and work in general and his mechanical ability with automobile-repair was also well-respected. He was always there to lend a helping hand. He kept in good physical condition as well, early on working out with weights and competing in the discus and shot put events in High School. That wasn’t the only thing he did in high school. Kris was a member of the Prom Court in his Junior year of high school in the Iola-Scandinavia School District. At school, he was respected and thought well of by students and faculty alike! While growing up, Kris and his siblings endured long family trips together. While there may still be some marks to keep the memories strong, those times are now more priceless than ever. One time we crept up a jagged-rock road to a Montana mountain-top fire tower when a potato chip bag exploded in the GMC Suburban at the summit, scaring the heck out of the entire family. And as if that were not enough excitement, when we turned around we immediately spotted helicopters and airplanes circling in the wide, thickly-treed valley to the West, where a forest fire was beginning to gain a dangerous foothold. Then, adding even more to that suspense, there came a bursting radiator hose and a hasty drive down to the Little Blackfoot River after frequently stopping to replenish fluids. There were other memorable trips including Yellostone, The Black Hills; Mt. Rushmore; Glacier; Winnipeg the drive around Lake Superior, Washington State; and all over Wisconsin. All the while, Kris frequently provided humorous and entertaining observations! Kris also had friends in far-away places, such as Gods River & Gods Lake in northeast Manitoba, Canada at the Elk Island Lodge–the same one recently featured on Ice Road Truckers. Kris spent an entire summer working at the fishing lodge and guiding guests along with the residents of Gods Lake. Many of the locals with whom Kris guided and worked were saddened to hear of his passing.
