THE MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR GLEN RUTZ WILL BE HELD AT THE WISCONSIN VETERANS HOME-MAIN CHAPEL AT KING, WISCONSIN ON SATURDAY MAY 20, 2023. VISITATION WILL START AT 11:30 AM WITH THE MEMORIAL SERVICE TO FOLLOW AT 12:15 PM.
Glen Ervin Rutz, 93, of Rosholt, Wisconsin passed away on October 10, 2022, in Marshfield, Wisconsin. He was born in Franklin, Wisconsin on November 1, 1928, to Oscar and Frieda Rutz. Glen married Gloriette Spoerl on December 29, 1951, in Hales Corners, Wisconsin.
Glen grew up in Franklin, Wisconsin on a small farm with two brothers. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War era. He began as an Instrument Repair Technician and later was promoted to a Sergeant Instrument Instructor of which he received high honors. After the war, he worked for the Wisconsin Electric Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for 30 years as a Lineman and then Lineman crew supervisor. Glen and Gloriette raised their four children in Greendale, Wisconsin. He was very involved with their church. He was an instructor for Hunter Gun Safety with the Greendale Rifle Club. Here he taught many children the importance of gun safety.
Glen and Gloriette bought land in Rosholt, Wisconsin commonly known as the Cabin to the family. They loved spending their down time at the cabin so much, they decided to buy a home and moved to the area when Glen retired in 1988. Glen was involved with the local chapters of the VFW and Lions Camp and his church. He loved fishing, hunting, taxidermy, woodworking, rock and arrowhead collecting, and gardening. Family was so important to him. He thoroughly enjoyed life and spending time with his family.
Glen is survived by his four children: daughter; Jill (Bernie) Elskamp, sons; Michael (Patti) Rutz,
James (Tolly) Rutz and Marty (Kat) Rutz. Glen is also survived by eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and sister-in-laws, Nancy Gorman and Sandy Spoerl. He was preceded in death by his wife; Gloriette, parents; Oscar and Frieda Rutz, brothers; Lenard and Marvin and grandson; Justin Weisbrich and his faithful canine companion Misty.
