Edwina E. Sopa

December 26, 1930 — September 14, 2019

Edwina E. Sopa, age 88, of Scandinavia, Wisconsin, passed away Saturday, September 14, 2019 after a short illness at her residence. She was born in Amherst, Wisconsin on December 26, 1930, daughter of the late Peter and Johanna (Sommers) Mrochinski. She married Severine "Bud" Sopa on October 28, 1950 at St James Catholic Church in Amherst, Wisconsin. He preceded her in death on October 29, 2002. Mom was a spiritual person, relying on prayer for her courage and strength throughout her life. She knew the importance of living in the moment, that every day was truly a blessing. There was not a night that went by without a rosary in her hands. This brought comfort and peace to her. Although our hearts are heavy for losing someone so special to so many, we will celebrate her life and cherish the times we were able to spend together. Comfort comes from all our memories for now and the greatest peace will come when we are together again. She is survived by her family: Edwin (Sally) Sopa; Marvin Sopa; John (Brenda) Sopa; Arelene (Patrick) Goggins; Audrey (Tom) Lubinski; Mark Sopa, Don Sopa and Miok Sopa 15 grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren. A sister: Judy Trzebiatowski and a brother: Ronald Mrochinski. She was preceded in death by a son: Michael, a daughter: Charlotte and 3 brothers: LeRoy, Harlan, and Robert Mrochinski. Respecting her wishes, a private graveside service will be held at a later date at the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King, Wisconsin.
