Clara Mae Knutson

Clara Mae (Nerdahl) Knutson, 95, of Rosholt, passed away Wednesday June 12th at House of the Dove in Marshfield.  Clara Mae was born on March 31,1929 in Norske, the firstborn child of Walter and Thelma (Johnson) Nerdahl. She lived most of her childhood on the family farm on Nerdahl Road.  She attended Brown and Lakeview elementary school and graduated from Rosholt High School.  After graduation she and her best friend, Irene, moved to Stevens Point, their first job being at Hardware Mutual Insurance. Clara Mae met and married the love of her life, Jim Knutson.

They moved to Jimmy’s family farm and worked side by side for many years. Clara Mae became a stay-at-home mom when their son, Robert was born, followed by Beverly, Eileen and Tom. In 1968 she went to work for Sentry Insurance. 10 Years later, she took a job with Community First Bank in Rosholt. She retired at age 77 in 2006. Clara Mae loved to sew, everything from clothes to quilt tops for the Faithful Knotters. She had a huge garden every summer, canning and preserving all the produce. She was very proud of her involvement with the foster Grandparent program at Rosholt Elementary School. She was an active member of the Rosholt Homemakers Club, Faith Lutheran Women’s Group, Sunday School and the Portage County Meals on Wheels.

She is survived by her sister, Phyllis Olson, her children, Robert Knutson (Veva), Beverly Carter (John), Tom Knutson. Grandchildren, Braden Knutson (Amy), Brian Knutson, Nancy Zinda (Jason), Becky Brooks (Brett), Doreen Wendlandt (Jon), Lynn Baker (Chad), Donny Carter (Heather), Patrick Knutson (Holly), Kaitlyn Knutson (Dalton), Jimmy Knutson (Paige). Great grandchildren, Emma, Savannah, Bryce, Blake, Callie, Evelyn, Malaya, Brekken, Isabelle, Logan, Jameson, Xavior, Nylah. Step granddaughter, Andrea Ziegler (Todd), step great grandchildren, Matthew, Helaina, step great-great grandchildren, Haedyn, Macy.  She is also survived by nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jim, her daughter, Eileen, her daughter in law, Pauline, brother, Thurlow and infant great granddaughter, Rebecca Lynn.

Funeral services will be at Faith Lutheran Church in Rosholt on Friday June 21 at 1:00pm, the Reverend Michael Peuse, officiating.   Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 11:00 am till time of service.  Interment will be in the Alban Cemetery.
