Barbara Jane Luodo
January 17, 1924 — September 3, 2018
She married Carl Luodo on June 14, 1952 in Winona. He preceded her in death in 1992. Barbara graduated from Winona High School and Winona College. She taught General Science and Biology at Embarras High School in Embarras, Minnesota. She was a volleyball and basketball coach and advisor for the high school year book. Barbara enjoyed traveling and took several trips to Hawaii with her husband Carl. She also enjoyed reading, flowers and golfing. Barbara was a member of the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Virginia.
Barbara is survived by nephews and nieces, sister in law; Delores Somers, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by Brothers: John Somers, Perrie Somers, Everett Somers and Don Somers.
Memorial Service will be held at Iola Living Assistance Chapel, Iola at 4:00 PM on Thursday, September 6th, 2018. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Winona, Minnesota.
The family would like to extend great appreciation to the staff at Iola Living Assistance for the care and compassion provided to Barbara, while she was a resident. The family would also like to extend great appreciation and gratitude to Barbara's two personal caregivers and close friends, Susie Melum and Megan Oksuita, for their unconditional love and care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Jude Childrens Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.
