Anny M. Dalland, 87, formerly of Iola, passed away due to Alzheimer's on Saturday, March 23rd at the Waupaca Elder Care where she had been a resident for 10 years. Anny was born in Norway, on December 9, 1931, a daughter of the late Olise (Gronseth) and Ingvar Maalo. They came to America in 1947. She married George Dalland on Oct 10, 1950 in Chicago and had four children. Anny was born on her beautiful, family-owned Maalo Island in Norway where she spent the first 16 years of her life. Some of her favorite pastimes in Norway included fishing with her dad and snow skiing on the island. In February of 1947, after enduring the hardships of WWII, Anny’s family of five embarked on their 8-day journey across the Atlantic to America. It was on that steamship that Anny met George Dalland, whom she would marry three years later on October 10, 1950 in Chicago and raise four children with. They later moved to Iola and built a home on North Lake. Anny absolutely loved outdoor work. She always seemed to have a bucket in hand, whether it was to haul rocks from the woods for landscaping, or to transport freshwater from North Lake to water her flowers. To this day, hundreds of orange Tiger Lilies still pop up each July on the steep inclined hill where Anny planted them many years ago. Anny also loved chainsaws and could always find limbs to trim or trees to cut for firewood. In addition, she was very blessed to enjoy countless summers back on Maalo Island, inviting friends and family to stay at their oceanside cottage. She is survived by herChildren: Peggy (Phil) Zinke, of Iola,Ivar Dalland, of Ogdensburg,Dean (Laurie) Dalland, of Iola,June Littler, of Iola.
