Mrs. Mary Josephine Crosslin, age 71, of Iola, died Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at her residence. Beloved wife, mother, niece, sister and grandmother, Mary was born on March 8, 1939, the daughter of the late Orin and Winifred (Grenlie) Enerson. She married James Randall Crosslin on January 3, 1960. Mary was a devoted mother who stayed home to raise her two children while the family lived in Palos Heights, IL. During those years she was energetically involved at her children's schools, and was a Girl Scout leader. In 1976, her family relocated to Orange County, California where she began a career in property management. For 23 years she worked for Professional Community Management, managing Laguna Wooods Village (formerly Leisure World), a retirement community of 18,000 residents. Mary began as a secretary in the accounting department, later was promoted to manager in the recreation department, and finally rose to Theater Manager of the community's 800 seat performing arts theater, working with agents and producers to book professional shows. Mary herself was musically gifted; she sang for many years with the Sweet Adelines performance and show choir. On retirement in 2004, she moved back to the Iola-Scandinavia area to be close to the many family members nearby. Mary is survived by her husband, James Crosslin of Iola; daughter Laura (Ron) Scott of Iola; son Paul Crosslin of Iola; grandchildren Severina and Charlie Scott of Iola; brother Jon (Verna) Enerson of Ortonville, Michigan; and many other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held at the Scandinavia Lutheran Church on Friday, June 11, at 1:00 PM with Reverend Mark E. Sabin officiating. Visitation with the family will be at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
