Mary Helen (Krause) Klug

February 24, 1913 — June 2, 2010

Mary Helen (Krause) Klug Mary H. Klug, 97, of Iola, passed into heavenly grace on Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010 at Living Oaks-Assisted Living in Iola, Wisconsin. Mary was born in the family home east of Iola, on February 24, 1913, the daughter of the late Carl and Cora (Neil) Krause. She married Gerald LeRoy Klug on December 25, 1939 at the Iola Methodist Church and moved to Loyal, WI. where Gerald worked as a cheese maker. In 1943 the young couple bought a cheese factory in Ringle, WI. where they lived until retiring to Iola in 1976. Gerald preceded her in death on September 7, 2000. Mary was a lifelong teacher, receiving a teaching certificate in 1933 and her BS in 1979 from Stevens Point University. She taught at rural schools in Wisconsin including: Loyal; Easton Center and Forestville, Ringle; She was principal at the Easton Elementary School and retired in 1976 from DC Everest Jr. High School, Schofield, where she was the chair of the English Dept. Mary was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Iola, where she served a term as Board President. She also was an active member of the Altar Circle. Mary was member of the Iola Garden Club. She was an avid reader and prolific writer. She loved children and until the end of her life shared this gift with family, church and garden club. She is survived by her children: David (Gayle), Lincoln. IL.; Alan (Sharon), Gremantown ,WI.; Patricia, Iola, WI.; Jane (David Skumatz), Waupaca ,WI. A surviving brother: Chester Krause, Iola, WI. Eight Grandchildren: Eric (Karen) Brandt, Jesse Klug, Michael Klug, Candice Klug, Christopher (Rachel) Klug, Jeffrey Klug; Heidi (Paul) Heimgartner; Heather (Randy Sthokal) Skumatz. Six Great Grandchildren: Zachary, Emma, and Alex Brandt; Luke & Jonathan Heimgartner; and Alden Sthokal. She be missed by many including her beloved cousin, Joan Paulson and loving care giving staff at Living Oaks. She was preceded in death by brothers, Neil and Benjamin and sisters Donna and Grace. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 7, 2010 @ 11:00 AM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Iola. The Rev. Dennis Olson will officiate. Friends may call Sunday from 4-7 PM at the Voie Funeral Home in Iola and again Monday from 9:30 AM until the time of service at the church. Interment will be in Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery.
