Gloria Thompson

Mrs. Gloria Thompson, age 80 of Iola, died Monday, December 21st 2009 at her residence. Gloria was born in Iola, Wisconsin on February 20, 1929, daughter of the late Martin & Gusta (Loberg) Engebretson. Gloria married Rex A. Larson on Sept 20, 1947. He preceded her in death on Dec 11, 1989. Gloria later married William "Bill" Thompson on June 28, 1992. He preceded her in death on May 12, 1995. Gloria was an active member of the Forget Me-Not Drive, Diabled American Veterans Post #53 Manawa, VFW Auxillary Post 1037, Iola Sons of Norway Norskeland Lodge #5-580. She took part in the American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association and American Lung Association Fund Drives. Gloria also participated in the Relay for Life and looked forward to it each year. She worked in home health care untill her illness in 2008. Gloria was an active member of Northland Lutheran Church where she was involved with the the annual Lutefisk Supper. She is survived by Daughters: Louise Ingbretson of Lake Geneva. Christine "Tina" (Rick) Foley of Pine River. Bonnie Lienhard of Iola. Grandchildren: Erik (Ali) Ingbretson, Nissa (Tasso) Papastathis. Norris Ingbretson, Marta (Josh) Ingbretson, Spec 4 Mark Ingbretson; U.S. Army, Karl Ingbretson, Wade Foley, Justin (Raven) Foley, Corporal Jordan Foley; USMC, and Cheyenne Lienhard. Great Granddaughters: Delaney Ingbretson and Saguara Foley. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her husbands: Rex Larson and William "Bill' Thompson, Son: Tommy Larson, Son in law; Mark Ingbretson and Granddaughter: Jenna Foley. Also 4 Sisters: Margaret Schmidt, Lillian Hetzel, Belma Hetzel, Hazel Boggio and 1 Brother: Morgan Engebretson. Funeral Service will be held at Northland Lutheran Church, Iola, Wisconsin, on Saturday, Jan 2, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Dan Somers officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, Jan 1 from 2-5 PM at the Voie Funeral Home in Iola and on Saturday at the church from 12 noon till the time of service.
