Mr. Irving R. Williams, age 84, of Iola, passed away Saturday, October 31st, 2009 at Iola Living Assistance surrounded by his family. Irving was born in Lake Linden, Michigan on January 6, 1925, the son of the late Richard and Minnie (Uren) Williams. Irving married Luella Harris on Dec 9, 1950 in Port Huron, Michigan. She preceded him in death on Jan 27, 2005. Irving spent most of his younger years growing up with his mother and siblings in the town of Lake Linden, in the upper peninsula of Michigan. They were a close, loving family. Later, Irving would move with his family to the Flint, Michigan area where he would attend and graduate from Flint Northwestern High School. After high school, Irving began to work for Michigan Bell Telephone Company as a cable splicer. Some time later, he would meet the love of his life, Luella May Harris, and they would eventually marry and be blessed with two daughters, Nancy Lee and Gayle Louise. The family then resided in Port Huron, Michigan. Irving later transferred with the telephone company and would work for Southern Bell Telephone Company until he retired after over 40 years of service. He and Luella built their retirement home on a lake in Crescent City, Florida, where they enjoyed the warm, sunny weather and visits with family and friends. When their health became an issue, they returned to the north, to live in Iola, Wisconsin near family. Irving had at one time been an active member of the Elks and Moose clubs. Irving loved to do puzzles, read books and watch old movies, and he especially still loved to sing. In his later years he enjoyed happy moments with his family, grand children and great grand children. He was a member of Nelsonville Lutheran Church, Nelsonville, Wisconsin. His positive outlook on life and his peaceful presence will forever be remembered by his family that continues to love him dearly. He is survived by Daughter: Gayle (Mark) Huglen of Iola; Grandchildren: Derek (Angelia) Huglen of Leesville, LA. Amanda (Justin) Crowley of Iola. Brian Diunizo of Virginia Beach, VA; Sister: Helen Klock of Brighton, MI. In addition to his wife: Luella, he was preceded in death by a Daughter: Nancy L. Nichael on Sept 30, 2000; Two Brothers and One Sister. Funeral Service will be held at Nelsonville Lutheran Church in Nelsonville at 11:00 AM on Tuesday November 3, 2009 with Reverend Dwight Anderson officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 10AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in Nelsonville Lutheran Cemetery in the Town of New Hope, Portage County, Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ministry Hospice 2501 Main Street in Stevens Point, WI 54481.
