Carl B. Brockway

Carl Bernard Brockway passed away on Friday, December 9th, 2017 in Iola, WI with his loving family by his side. He was born in Lansing, Michigan on May 20th, 1924. Carl served in the U.S. Navy and upon returning, he earned both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Economics at Michigan State. There he married Helen Smith on September 19th, 1947 and they were happily married for over 70 years! Carl enjoyed a 33-year career with Sentry Insurance, spending the late 60s and early 70s working in Stevens Point and eventually retiring as vice-president of underwriting at Sentry in Scottsdale, AZ. They stayed in Scottsdale,but were Wisconsinites at heart, spending the spring, summer and fall each year on “the farm” between Stevens Point and Iola. What was most special to Carl was his family. He is survived by his wife, Helen, his children, Stephen Brockway, Anne (Mark) Riesebieter, his grandchildren, Ross and Ben Brockway, Maria (Roman) Andrade and Anita (Stewart) Ross. Carl lived a life of honor, loyalty, and empathy. He was more than just a great husband, father and grandfather, Carl was a real friend to everyone! He will be deeply missed by all of us! A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 12, 2017 from 2-4 PM at Living Oaks Assisted Living 505 W. Iola Street in Iola, Wisconsin. A Memorial has been established.
