Lavern R. Loken

LaVern R. Loken, 79, of Iola died Monday, October 12th, 2009 at his residence. He was born in the Town of Harrison, Wisconsin on March 20, 1930, the son of the late Helmer and Florence (Dobbe) Loken. LaVern married Susan March on April 13, 1963 in Oshkosh, WI. She survives. He was a member of the American Legion-Post 14 of Iola and the Iola Conservation Club. He was an avid hunter and trout fisherman. He enjoyed spending time outdoors. He loved his grandchildren and spending time with family and friends. LaVern graduated from Iola High School and attended Arizona State University in Tempe. LaVern served in the U.S. Navy in the Korean War. He worked as a foreman for the Joe DeBelak Plumbing Heating Inc. He is survived by Wife: Susan Loken of Iola; Daughter: Stephany (Randy) Grossbier of Elk Mound; Son: Kevin (Michelle) Loken of Appleton; Brothers: Floyd (Doris) Loken of Butler. Merlin (Rande) Loken of Ghent, NY. Donald (Jean) Loken of Iola; Sisters: Shirley (Joseph) Hogan of Peru, IL.. Patricia (Gary) Reierson of Iola. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Lexi, Colin, and Addie Grossbier, and Anna, Jack, and Samuel Loken. He was preceded in death by an infant son Steven Richard Loken, a sister, Leona Seefeldt and a brother, Orin Loken. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 16th, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with Reverend Dennis Olson officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday 4-7 PM at Voie Funeral Home in Iola and again on Friday from 9:30 AM until the time of service at the church. Interment will be in Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery.
