Daniel James Mortensen, age 47, of Iola, passed away Sunday, October 11th, 2009 at his residence after fighting a long and couragous battle with cancer. Daniel was born in Waupaca, Wisconsin on December 26, 1961, the son of James Mortensen and Dixie (Brown) Gray. Daniel married Dawn Paul on June 19, 1993 at First Lutheran Church in Ogdensburg. Daniel was a graduate of Iola-Scandinavia High School in 1980. He was was an avid outdoors man. He loved hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors with his family and friends. Daniel worked in the Melting Department at the Waupaca Foundry for 25 years. He enjoyed watching baseball, football, basketball and many other sports on television. He is survived by his Wife: Dawn Mortensen of Iola; Father: James (Friend: Darlene Wohlrabe) Mortensen of Ogdensburg. Mother: Dixie (Tony) Gray of Oshkosh; Daughters: Amy Jo Ronek of Iola. Daytana Ronek of Appleton; Brothers: James Mortensen of Ogdensburg. Scott Lepak of Ripon; Sisters: Jill (Darrell) Stibb of Waupun. Teri (Steve) Rivera of Ripon. Valerie Beaver of Ripon. Grandson: Tyler Ronek. He is also survived by nieces and nephews other relatives and friends. Funeral Service will be held at Voie Funeral Home in Iola at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, October 14th, with Reverend Jim Frank officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday 11 AM-1:00 P.M. at Voie Funeral Home. Interment will be in Park Cemetery in the Town of St. Lawrence, Waupaca County, Wisconsin.
