Gerald "Jerry" Eugene Labisch

Labisch, Gerald ("Jerry") Eugene of Iola, formerly of Scandinavia and Cudahy, Wisconsin passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at the age of 81 years. Jerry was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on May 16, 1936, a son of the late Ella (Urbikat) and Edward Labisch. He married Karen McDonald on June 6, 1971, at St. Frederick's Catholic Church in Cudahy, Wisconsin. Loving husband of Karen Labisch, Fond brother of Kathleen (Dennis) Duran, Thomas Labisch , Sr., the late Edward Labisch, Jr. and Judith (Dick) Totka. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral Mass will be held 12 PM Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at St Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, N2845 Shadow Road Waupaca, Wisconsin with Father Amalraj Roche celebrant. In state, Tuesday at the the church from 10 AM until the time of the Mass. Interment will be at St. Mary Magdalene Cemetery. Jerry graduated with a 4.0 average from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee earning a BA in Business Administration. He served as Logistics Manager of Kraft Foodservice Inc in Milwaukee. Jerry was very easy going, had a keen sense of humor and enjoyed many activities including downhill skiing (He was a real daredevil, traveling to Europe with the Vagabond Ski Club.), pool (a natural who won scores of trophies.) bowling (never practiced but did well) and golf (loved the game and played very often during the 20+ yrs. of retirement.) Jerry proudly served in the U.S. Army, 2nd Armored Rifle Battalion, 41st infantry in New Ulm, Germany with a rank of SP5 advancing to Grade E-5 in the 4th Armored Division. Jerry was awarded a certificate of achievement for his outstanding ability as a leader, expert sharpshooter and his technical competence in the field, as well as in garrison, playing a major role in battalion successes in numerous and arduous field training exercises and proficiency tests held in Germany during 1958 and early 1959. Special thanks to all the staffs of ThedaCare At Home Hospice and Fresenius Dialysis Center, Waupaca who gave Jerry wonderful support care, love, and support. Special, special love and thanks to Father Amalraj Roche for the spiritual support he has given Jerry (and Karen) over the last 4 yrs.
