Elsie M. Gjertson

Elsie Marleah Gjertson died peacefully September 19, 2009, at Bethany Home of Waupaca with the love of her family surrounding her. Born Elsie Cooper May 28, 1916, youngest sister to Emma, Elizabeth, and Firman. Elsie was married to Orin Selmer Gjertson from June 27, 1931 until his death February 11, 1977. Elsie’s love and devotion to her family will never be forgotten by her nine children, William (Marianne) Gjertson, Seattle; Marjorie Zellmer, Phoenix; James (Glenna) Gjertson, Waupaca; Linda (John) Dwyer, Waupaca; John (Daisy Ho) Gjertson, Singapore; Judy (Don) Weege, Portland; George (Chris) Gjertson, Marshfield; Tedmund (Jill) Gjertson, Ogdensburg; Debra Danielson, Waupaca; 28 grandchildren (Kari and Denise met Elsie in heaven), and 42 great grandchildren. Visitation will be at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Iola at 10:00 am on Wednesday, September 23, with the funeral following at 11:00 am. Interment will be in Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery in the Town of Scandinavia, Waupaca County, Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Iola or Bethany Home of Waupaca would be appreciated.
