Bernard R. Aker

Mr. Bernard Roscoe Aker, 86, of Iola, formerly of Kenosha died Monday, July 27th, 2009 at Iola Living Assistance. Bernard was born in Hampton, Iowa on June 1, 1923, the son of the late Edward and Anna (Bergman) Aker. He married Lettie O'Brien on October 16, 2004 in Iola, Wisconsin. Bernard attended Woodworth Grade School in Woodworth, Wisconsin and Lincoln Grade School in Kenosha. He served as a Staff Sergeant the United States Army during World War and was a lifetime member of the VFW. Bernard retired as a foreman and molder from Arneson Foundry in Kenosha. He lived formerly in Bristol, Somers, and Kenosha for 40 years. Bernard enjoyed golf, fishing along with watching the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers. He is survived by his Wife: Lettie (O'Brien)Aker of Iola: Children: Debra (Randy) Miller of Kenosha. Jeanne (Ron) Dalton of Madison. Sharon (Pete) Tucker of Iola. Cathy (Ron Colby) Jackson of Iola. Lorrie Summers of Kenosha; Daughter in law: Dee Dee Summers of Kenosha. He is also survived by Grandchildren: Tony Miller, Donna Barry, Debbie Beberniss, Darrie Dalton, Dan Dalton, James Bilski, John Bilski, Janet Langer, Jackie Cherek, Charlene Summers, Shawn Summers, Margo, Reener and Bridget Hagopian, Twenty One Great Grandchildren and One Great Great Grandchild. He was preceded in death by his second wife: Thelma; Daughter: Susan, Son: Chuck Summers, three Sisters: Irene Perri, Laura Wade, Evelyn Schlagel; three Brothers: Harold Aker, Clarence Aker and Elmer Aker. Funeral Services will be held at the Proko Funeral Home at 5111 60th Street in Kenosha on Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at 10:00 AM. with visitation being held on Monday August 3rd from 5-7 PM. Visitation will also be held a the Voie Funeral Home in Iola on Wednesday, July 29 from 5-7 P.M. Interment will be in the Sunset Ridge Memorial Park in the Township of Somers, Kenosha County, Wisconsin.
