Arvada G. Rasmussen

Obituary Arvada G. Rasmussen, age 91, of Iola, was called home by her Lord and Savior Saturday, July 4, 2009. She was born on August 13, 1917, in the Town of Iola daughter of the late Morgan and Inga (Dahlen) Torbenson. She married Dale E. Rasmussen on June 14, 1947 at the Hitterdahl Parsonage. He died on May 22, 1966. Arvada had operated Rasmussen’s Apparel in Iola until 1957. She then was employed by the Iola-Scandinavia School District as the high school secretary and later as the district bookkeeper , working 23 years for the schools. She was a well loved Sunday School teacher, church treasurer for 32 years, church choir member, President of the ladies’ aid, a member of the Mission Circle and Lydia Circle at Hitterdahl Lutheran Church. She also was a member of the Sons of Norway. She is survived by a son, Jim (Barbara) Rasmussen, a daughter, Mary Rasmussen, a grandson, Nick Rasmussen, all of Iola and a sister, Myrtle Hopkins, of Waupaca. Besides her parents and husband, Arvada was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Gerald Hopkins. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 8, 2009 @ 11:00 AM at the Hitterdahl Lutheran Church. The Rev. Daniel Somers officiated. Burial is in the church cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 4-8 PM at the Voie Funeral Home in Iola.
