Obituary Mrs. Myrtle V. Larson Iola, WI. Mrs. Lester Larson (Myrtle) died on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. She was born June 11, 1910 in Waupaca, daughter of the late Martin and Hilda (Johnson) Peterson. She graduated from Waupaca High School in 1928. In 1932 she graduated from the Fairview Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis, MN. She was employed as a nurse at hospitals in Waupaca, Iola, and Stevens Point. She also was a private nurse for several families in Stevens Point before her retirement. She married Mr. Lester Larson on May 25, 1946 in Dubuque, IA. They resided in Iola until the Green Bay Western Railroad transferred him to Kewaunee, WI. where he continued to work as a depot agent. They returned to Iola after 20 years and retired in their home on State Street. Mrs. Larson was an avid reader. She also liked gardening, travelling, collecting cook books, and listening to Lawrence Welk every Saturday eve. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Iola Historical Society, Sons of Norway, and the Women’s Division of the Democratic Party. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Ellen Bammel, of Waupaca, a niece, Mrs Patricia (Jim) Watkins, of Colorado, three nephews, Paul (Cindy) Bammel Jr., of Eau Claire, Lee Nelson, of Iola, and Robert (Carol) Lashua, of Iola. She is further survived by many grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Paul Bammel, Sr. Services will be held Thursday, June 11, 2009 @ 11:00 AM at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Iola. The Rev. Dennis Olson will officiate. Burial will be in Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church. The Voie Funeral Home of Iola is in charge of arrangements.
