Mr. Norris Ernest Hanson, 89, of Appleton, WI., formerly of Iola, passed away Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009. Norris was born in Town of Harrison, Wisconsin on April 13, 1920, the son of the late Nells and Emma (Erickson) Hanson. Norris married Dorris Paulsen on March 11, 1950 in Chicago. She preceded him in death on April 28, 1979. He later married Helen M. Giuliani Sept 27th, 1980 in Iola. He was a member of Northland Lutheran Church Iola. Norris served for 2 years in the United States Army during World war II. Norris grew up on a farm near Norske, he later moved to Milwaukee and worked at the Laddish Company. He then moved back to the Northland area and farmed the Borge farm for 13 years. He moved to Iola and operated the Iola Pickle station and the Oslo Corner Import Store. Norris and Helen retired to Yuma Arizona in 1989 and after 17 years they moved to Appleton. Norris will be remembered by his expertise of playing cribbage, bowling, horse shoes and smooth dancing. He is survived by his Wife: Helen Hanson of Appleton; Sons: Eric (Jane) Hanson of Appleton. Harold Hanson of Chicago. Ivan Hanson of Brillion. Norris Hanson Jr. of Eagle River; Daughters: Joy Hanson of Weyauwega. Sonia (John) Lee of Plover; Step Son: Robert (Judy) Bowers of Wasilla, Alaska; Sister: Elizabeth Pederson of Norske. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren 12 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Norris was preceded in death by his first Wife: Dorris (Paulson) Hanson, Grandson: Joey Hanson; Step Daughter: Mary Ann Bowers; Brother: Joseph Hanson Two Sisters: Edna (Ray) Adams, Carla (Ole) Holtane Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 25th, from 12-2 pm at Northland Lutheran Church N9880 Hwy 49, 9 miles north of Iola. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Nate Liedtke officiating. Interment will be in Northland Lutheran Cemetery in the Town of Harrison, Waupaca County, Wisconsin.
