Morgan Kenneth Huglen, 96, of Iola passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at St. Michaels Hospital in Stevens Point, WI. Morgan was born in Northland, Wisconsin on October 27, 1919. He was the son of the late Selmer Huglen and Helma (Nymoen) Huglen Holmes. He was married to Eleanor (Wrolstad) Huglen on January 17, 1942 in San Diego, California. They remained partners in life until Eleanor’s death in 2014. Morgan joined the Civilian Conservation Corp shortly after graduating from high school. He was a WWII veteran who served in the Pacific. One of the most memorable experiences in his later years was to travel to Washington D.C. as a member of the Honor Flight. As an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting, Morgan passed on to his children and grandchildren a deep appreciation for nature. His love for music began when he learned to play the violin at the Conservatory of Music in Appleton, WI. Playing the guitar, mandolin, banjo or ukulele, Morgan provided entertainment around many a campfire or family gathering, while his family would sing along. Morgan and Eleanor raised their five children in Rhinelander, WI where he worked at Cleary’s Dairy for many years. In later years, he transferred to Morning Glory Dairy in Shawano, WI as Director of Purchasing. Upon retirement, Morgan and Eleanor moved to Iola, WI where they enjoyed living near many extended cousins, friends and relatives. Morgan was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Iola. Morgan was predeceased by his wife, Eleanor, and his grandson, Michael Dellegrazio. He is survived by his 5 children; Diane Marquardt of Iola, WI, Michael (Donna) Huglen of Tucson, AZ, Mark (Gayle) Huglen of Iola, WI, Steven (Rita) Huglen of Norway, MI, and Cindy (Philip) Dellegrazio of Grafton, WI and his sister Carol Alderton. He had 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service for Morgan will be held on Saturday, May 27th, 2016, 11:00 AM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Iola. Visitation will start at 10:30 AM at the church. The family would like to thank the staff at the Iola Nursing Home, Ministry Hospice and St. Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point for the excellent care provided to Morgan. A memorial fund has been established in memory of Morgan to the Iola Nursing Home. Register Book and online condolences may be sent by visiting www.voiefuneralhome.com.
