Mary J. Rasmussen

After a valiant fight with cancer, Mary J. Rasmussen, age 60, of Iola, entered her eternal rest on Friday, August 7, 2015 at Riverside Hospital in Waupaca. She was born in Iola on April 16, 1955, the daughter of Dale and Arvada (Torbenson) Rasmussen. She worked for many years as a service rep for Scandinavia Telephone Co., later TDS. She was an active member of Hitterdahl Lutheran Church serving on the church council, as a strong voice in the choir, and in ladies groups. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and sewing. Her friends enjoyed her wit and enthusiasm. She is survived by her brother Jim (Barb), nephew Nick (Angie) and great nephew and niece Pierce and Willow, all of Iola. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents,and uncle and aunt Gerald and Myrt Hopkins. Funeral services will be held at Hitterdahl Lutheran Church, N8808 County J, Iola on Saturday, August 15 at 11 am, with visitation Saturday from 9:30 am until time of service. The Rev. Dale Wilson will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Voie Funeral Home of Iola is in charge of arrangements. The family wishes to thank Pastor Dale Wilson, Heather Gruszynski of ThedaCare Iola, and Esther Selke for their exceptional care. A memorial fund has been established.
