Elsa J. Peterson

Mrs. Elsa Jeanette Peterson, age 96, of Plover, formerly of the Town of New Hope, Portage County, died Friday, July 24, 2015 at Maple Ridge where she had been a resident. Elsa was born in the Town of New Hope on September 12, 1918, the daughter of the late Jonas and Olive (Olsen) Roe. Elsa married Vern C. Peterson on June 2, 1940 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in the Town of New Hope. He preceded her in death on July 25, 1983. Elsa liked to spend time outdoors; cross country skiing, walking thru her woods, gardening and working in her flower garden. She also like to square dance and bowl. She is survived by Daughters: Valerie (Jim) Groskopf of Algonquin, Ill.. Julie (Dave) Kalata of South Lake, Texas, 6 Grandchildren and 1 Great Grandchild, Brother: Curtis (Eileen) Roe of Waupaca. Elsa was preceded in death by a Son; Al Peterson, Sister: Helen Pillsbury. Funeral Service will be held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, at 10388 State Hwy 161 in the Town of New of Hope, Amherst Jct. at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 28th, with Reverend Greg Haugen officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 AM. until the time of service. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
