M. Teresa (Terry) Olstad

Terry Olstad went home peacefully on Wednesday February 25, 2015. She was born May 30, 1920 to Joseph and Catherine (Hittesdorf) Sauer in Darlington, WI and was the youngest of 7. After high school, she graduated from UW Platteville and started her teaching career in Wisconsin Rapids, taught several years in Boscobel and retired in 1985 after teaching 25 years in Rosholt. Terry married Eugene I. Olstad on August 25, 1949 in Boscobel and they celebrated 49 years of marriage before his passing on November 16, 1998. They had 5 children, Marygene, Cathy Lynn, John Eric (Shary Walkush), Karen Margaret Johnson (Mike), Thomas Joseph (Mary) and were blessed with 8 grandchildren Nettie (Erick) Brinker, Jeremiah Johnson (Jessica Patton), Greggory Johnson, Joseph Johnson (Samantha Thompson), John T Olstad, Tiana Olstad (Kevin Loesch), Hanna Olstad and Jack Olstad and 3 great grandchildren Olivia, Sydney and Sawyer Brinker. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and godchildren that held a special place in her heart. Terry was an active volunteer for her church Faith Lutheran - helping to make 1000s of quilts for World Relief and volunteering for the American Legion, Special Olympics and delivering meals on wheels. Terry was a wonderful teacher who touched many lives with her teaching, mentoring, student council advising and as a volunteer grandparent listening to the young readers. The family would like to thank her wonderful caregivers Diana Witucki, Linda Moen and Georgia Link and a special thanks to our sister Karen for all the wonderful care and love she gave Mom. Visitation will be on Friday March 20 from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church Rosholt, WI and one hour before the 11 a.m. service on Saturday March 21, 2015. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to Faith Lutheran or Special Olympics. Voie Funeral Home of Iola assisted the family with arrangements.
