Alice M. Ordway

Alice M. Ordway, age 60, of Iola , died Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca.  Alice was born in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin on March 27, 1953 daughter of the late Arvid and Evelyn (Erickson) Ordway. Alice grew up in Centuria, Wisconsin and graduated from Unity High School in 1971. She then went to UW-River Falls where she obtained her bachelors and masters degree in education. In 1977, Alice started teaching for the Iola Elementary School which later became the Iola-Scandinavia Elementary School. Throughout her years of teaching, she taught reading, kindergarten, first and second grade until retiring in 2010. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, golfing, and collecting quilts and Beatles memorabilia. Her nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews were a very important part of Alice's life. Alice is survived by, a sister, Helen Ordway (Larry) Lind of Newport, MN.; brothers, John (Rebecca) Ordway of Almena, WI. and Paul Ordway of Iola, WI. She is further survived by five nieces and six nephews. Alice was preceded in death by: brother, Robert and baby brother, Jimmy. A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 27, 2014 @ 11:00 AM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Iola, Wisconsin with Reverend Dennis Olson officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday 4-7 PM at the Voie Funeral Home in Iola and again on Thursday from 9:30 AM at the church. Burial will be at a later date. A memorial has been established.
