Eleanor "Ellie" Ertl, age 71, of Iola, died Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Iola Living Assistance. Eleanor was born in Auburndale, Wisconsin on August 16, 1942, the daughter of the late Anton and Alma C. (Schiferl) Grossbier. Ellie and her husband Ron Ertl, high school sweethearts from Auburndale, WI., were married on June 30, 1962 in Auburndale and made Iola their home. Ron preceded her in death on September 17, 1999. Ellie and Ron were remembered by many coming-of-age during the 1960's, as owners of the "Pool Hall" in downtown Iola. Ellie and Ron then purchased and operated the Iola Feed & Supply on State Street for nearly 30 years. After Ron's death, Ellie continued her varied career. She worked at Van Deest costume shop and Krause Publication, and Grayhill, Inc. Ellie was an excellent baker, an avid gardener, a keen card player, and a best friend to many. Over the years she volunteered for Hospice, the Lion's Club, Our Savior's Lutheran Church, and as a board member of the Iola Hospital. Ellie is survived by: a daughter, Connie Davis; sons: Ricky (Marge) Ertl and Mick Ertl: sisters: Vi (Butch) Carolfi, Rosie (Skip) Skibba and Mary (Ron) Kielpinski; brothers: Gene (Josephine) Grossbier, Harry (Jill) Grossbier Ralph (Judy) Grossbier and Wally (Robin) Grossbier; one grandchild, Derek Ertl; three step-grandchildren, Kellie (Andy) Kobleska, Travis Williams, and Lindsey Williams. Sister-in-law: Pat Grossbier and Brother-in-law: Rich Raschke She is further survived by four great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Ellie was preceded in death by: 3 sisters: Bermice Grossbier, Milllie Schiller and Cel Raschke: and 4 brothers: Leo, Walter J., Bob and Jim Grossbier. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, November 6, 2013 @ 11:00 AM at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church N2845 Shadow Road in Waupaca WI., with Father Amalraj Roche officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of service at the church. Interment will be in the Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Scandinavia, Wisconsin.
