Darlene "Jill" L. Apker

Darlene "Jill" L. Apker, age 69, of Iola, died Tuesday, October 29,2013 at her residence. Darlene was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 4, 1943, the daughter of the late Harold and Dorothy (Bilek) Pokorny. She married Tom Apker on February 10, 1962 in Chicago, Illinois. They were married for over 51 years. Jill had worked for K-mart in Waupaca for 10 years but most of her life she was a loving wife and mother. She loved to read and also to take her 4 mile walk with her dog, Frankie. She loved to play Sudoku and was hooked on Candy Crush on face book. Jill especially enjoyed the fall season. She is survived by her husband, Tom and children: Janet Jimenez, Terri (Chris) Lunow, Mike Apker, and Missy Buchanan. Jill is also survived by her grandchildren: Ashley (Ben), Austin (Cyndel), Mandi, Crystal, Jeremiah and Sebastian; great grandchildren: Katie, Jannie, Anthony and Julian. She is further survived by a sister; Diane (Ken) Horn, two nieces, Crystal and Colleen and a cousin, LaVerne Dellinger. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Josh Apker. Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2013 from 4:30 PM until 5:00 PM at the Voie Funeral Home in Iola. Burial will be held at a later date in the Riverside Cemetery, Town of Iola. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
