Robert H. "Gundy" Gunderson

Robert H. "Gundy" Gunderson 75, of Iola, died Saturday, October 26th, 2013. Gundy was born in Iola, Wisconsin on October 25, 1938, the son of the late Robert Ogren and Maude Rena (Berg) Gunderson. He married Carolyn Sorenson on Aug 20, 1960 in Iola. Gundy graduated from Iola High School in 1957. He served in the the National Guard and was called to duty to the State of Washington during the Berlin Crisis. Gundy worked for the Village of Iola street Dept. and Iola Police with Don Loken. He was a member of the Iola Fire Dept. and was a charter member of the Iola Musky Club. Gundy retired from the Waupaca Foundry, where he had worked for over 31 years. Gundy enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, boating and traveling to Destin, Florida where he liked to fly kites and to Duluth where he watched the ships come into port. He is survived by his Wife: Carolyn Gunderson, Son: Todd (Maureen) Gunderson of Iola; Daughter: Robyne (special friend: Todd Wileman) Gunderson of Fort Atkinson; Grandchildren: Luke (Tiffany) Gunderson of Greenville, Chad Gunderson of Iola, Janelle Gerds and Clay Gerds of Fort Atkinson. A Memorial Service will be held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Iola at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 30th, with Reverend Dennis Olson officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 9-11 AM In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
