Richard F. Thompson Richard F. Thompson, age 81, of Iola, died Wednesday, October 9th, 2013 at his residence. Richard was born in Cambridge, Minnesota on October 18, 1931, the son of the late Floyd and Floretta (Day) Thompson. He married Isabelle (Morey) Thompson on July 18, 1959 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Iola. Richard served in the US Air Force during the Korean War from 1950 to 1954, He was an aircraft mechanic for Gopher Aviation and then for Northwest Airlines. He also was a engine inspector for a specific part of the engine before retiring from Northwest. Richard and Isabelle completely finished the inside of their cabin on an inland lake 5 miles from the south shore of Lake Superior near Cornucopia. He was an excellent carpenter and handyman working on many projects. He loved his roses and also was an avid coin collector. Richard was a loving, husband, father, and grandfather always putting others first. He is survived by his wife, Isabelle and children:, Michael (Allison) Thompson, their children: Ian, Anna, and Alex; Mary (Ed Krichbaum) Thompson, and Kenneth Thompson, his children: Mitchell, Indigo, and Willow. His brothers and sisters: Eldon (Margaret) Thompson, Clifton (Carol) Thompson, Ann (Don) Bacon, Vera (Bob) Charbonneau, Shirley Carroll, Dale Thompson, Jareld (Judy) Thompson, Margie (Marvin) Laaveg, Norma O'Gary, Jennie (Dennis) Anderson, Linda (John) Karlson, Wayne and Bill Thompson. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Richard was preceded in death by: brothers and sisters, Milton Thomspon, Jaunita Myhre, Arnold Thompson, and Dorothy Ferguson. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, October 14, 2013 @ 11:00 AM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Iola, Wisconsin, with Reverend Dennis Olson officiating. A visitation will be on Monday 9:30 AM until the time of service at the church. Interment of Cremains will be in the Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery Town of Scandinavia, Wisconsin.
