Martin H. Eckhardt, Jr, age 68, of Iola died Monday, June 17th, 2013 at Appleton Medical Center in Appleton, Wisconsin. Martin was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on July 26, 1944, the son of the late Herman and Lydia (Lau) Eckhardt. Marty married Ellen Stoltenberg on June 28, 1969 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Iola. He graduated from Iola Scandinavia High School in 1962. Marty entered the United States Navy in 1964 and was discharged in 1968. He learned the upholstery trade from his father and purchased Scandinavia Upholstery. Marty was a member of the First Baptist Church in Waupaca where he served as a Deacon, played softball and was a member of the church choir. Marty was a very faithful person; helping people know the Lord and also was a Sunday School teacher. He is survived by his Wife: Ellen E. Eckhardt of Iola; Daughters: Valerie Eckhardt of Waupaca. Michelle (Kevin) Smith of Green Bay. Grandchildren: Nathaniel Smith, Wilder Smith, Zachary Smith and Violet Smith. Brother: Rodger (Eleanor) Eckhardt of Waupaca , Sisters: Marlene (Bernie) Christianson of Sequim, WA and Marian (Glen) Knutson of Ogdensburg. He was preceded in death by an infant Son: Paul Eckhardt. Funeral Service will be held at First Baptist Church, Waupaca, Wisconsin, at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 21st, with Reverend Larry Gross officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday 4-7 PM. at Voie Funeral Home in Iola Interment will be in the Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery Town of Scandinavia, Wisconsin.
