Lawrence A. Camber

September 20, 1940 — February 11, 2013

Lawrence A. Camber, age 72, of Iola, died on Monday, February 11th, 2013 at St. Michael's Hospital in Stevens Point. Larry was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 20, 1940, the son of the late Albert and Anna (Jerlinga). He grew up in the Pulaski area. Larry graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and attained his Master of Science Degree from the University of Utah. On August 22, 1964, Larry married the love of his life, Nancy (Giffin). Larry taught science in the Neenah schools for over 30 years, where he was a well-liked teacher and coach. He enjoyed coaching football, girls track and wrestling. Larry had many interests, including carpentry, gardening, traveling, and tinkering with cars and tractors. In 1999, Larry and Nancy built their dream home in Iola, where he could play with tractors, plant trees and fish. Larry enjoyed conversation and travel with friends new and old. Family was most important to Larry. He enjoyed visits with his grandchildren and taking them for rides on the tractor, swimming and fishing at the cottage in Lakewood and many summer trips to the outer banks in North Carolina. Larry is survived by his wife, Nancy Camber of Iola; his children, Jill (Bradley) Camber Davidson of Sun Prairie, Steven (Lara) Camber of Neenah and Patrick (Kelly) Camber of Appleton; his sisters, MaryAnn Crosby of Wausau, Jessica (Randall) Behlke of Deerfield, Cynthia (David) Dryja of Krakow, Norine (Russell) Brown of Red Granite; and a brother, Bernard Camber of Oconto Falls. Larry also is survived by six grandchildren, Bridget and Erin Davidson, Kaley and Gavin Camber, Sean and Ryan Camber. Memorial mass will be held at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, Waupaca, Wisconsin at 10:30 a.m. on Friday February 15th. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Wisconsin or the Iola-Scandinavia Fitness Center in Larry's memory. Special thanks to the staff at St. Michaels Hospital geriatrics unit and Oakridge "West Wing" memory care unit.
