Vernon J. Hoyord

Vernon J. Hoyord, age 94, of Scandinavia, died Sunday, January 27th, 2013 at Iola Living Assistance in Iola. Vernon was born in Iola on November 7, 1918, the son of the late Edwin and Clara (Nelson) Hoyord. Vernon was a dairy farmer for all of his life. After retirement, he enjoyed woodworking. He loved his dog VJ and his horse Jimmy. Vernon is survived by several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Vernon was preceded in death by: Two Brothers: Allen and Lenwick Hoyord and three sisters: Laura Olson, Dagne Tweit, and Vesta Anderson. Funeral Service will be held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 10388 State Hwy 161 in the Town of New Hope, Amherst Jct. , at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 2nd, with Reverend Greg Haugen officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 12 noon - 1:00 PM . Interment will be the parish cemetery. Voie Funeral Home of Iola assisted the family with arrangements.
