Richard L. Opperman, 62, of Iola, died Friday, August 24, 2012 in the Town of Wyoming, WI. Richard was born in Iola, Wisconsin on June 29, 1950, the son of the late William and Blanche (Bailey) Opperman, Sr. He married Diane Reierson at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rio, WI. on June 29, 1974. She survives. Richard had a degree from University Wisconsin-Madison in Agricultural Engineering. He had worked as a lead mechanic for Del Monte and as a farm manager at Rudolf's Ranch. He also had operated a machine shop in Big Falls. He enjoyed the outdoors, farming, fixing things and especially loved his granddaughters. Richard was a man of tremendous faith. He is survived by: Wife: Diane, Iola Daughters: Carrie (Brett) Hartwig St. Louis Mo.. Corrie (Nate) Ziemer Manawa; Brothers: William (Kathy Beyersdorf) Opperman, Jr. Iola. Robert (Jeanne) Opperman Iola. James (Cathy) Opperman Onalaska John (Sue) Opperman Amherst Jct. Tom (Sue) Opperman Iola; Sister: Mary (Jim) McCarville Iola. Grandaughters: Megan and Sarah Hartwig and Zoe and Mara Ziemer. Father-in law: Merlin Reierson Rio Brothers-in law: Ronald (Debra) Reierson, Mark (Dawn) Reierson, and John (Barbara) Reierson, all of Rio. Special Friends: Richard and Shirley Merrell of Ogdensburg and Jason "Whitey" Jashinsky of Tigerton. Richard was preceded in death by his Mother-in-law: Joyce Reierson and a nephew, James Ronald Reierson. A Memorial Service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Waupaca, Wisconsin, at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 29th, 2012 with Rev. Dr. Charles Tews officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday 4-8 PM at Voie Funeral Home in Iola and Wednesday from 9: 30 AM. at the church until time of service.
