Leonard Alfred Merz, 87, of Iola, died Wednesday, August 15th, 2012. at Iola Living Assistance. Leonard was born in Shorewood, Wisconsin on January 27, 1925, the son of the late Alexander and Anna "Tillie" (Mertz) Merz. He married Maria Bachmaier on June 4, 1960 in Shorewood, Wisconsin. She preceded him in death on Sept 1, 2006. Leonard served in the United States Army as a bombardier during World War II. He graduated from Milwaukee School of Engineering and worked as a body engineer for the Chrysler Corporation. He is survived by his Sister: Alice Jamosky of Cedar Falls, IA. two nieces: Valerie Leonard and Alice Champeau and a nephew: Michael Jamosky. He was preceded in death by his Brother: Edward Merz and Sister: Ruth Klapperich. Memorial Services will be held at the Central County Airport in the Town of St. Lawrence on County Highway E on Saturday, September 15th at 11:00 AM with Revernd Mark & Marcia Sabin Officiating.
