Sidney (Sid) E. Nelson

Sidney (Sid) E. Nelson, age 70, of Iola, formerly of Waupaca, died Monday November 21st, 2011 at Cherry Meadows Hospice in Appleton. Sid was born in Waupaca, Wisconsin on September 17, 1941, the son of the late Fritz & Helen (Taggart) Nelson. He married Elaine Flynn on Sept 14, 1984 in Fond du Lac. Sid worked at the Waupaca Foundry for 30 years until his retirement in 1996. He enjoyed country western music, golfing, dancing, bowling, treasure hunting, baseball and spending time outdoors fishing and hunting. He is survived by his Wife: Elaine Nelson of Iola; Sons: David (Barb) Nelson of Waupaca. Dan Nelson of Neenah. Don (Amy) Nelson of Omro. Dean (Kim) Nelson of Waupaca. Dale (Rachel) Nelson of Waupaca. Dusty Nelson of Waupaca; Step Children: Sheila (Gabe) Abshire of Waupaca. Melissa Burns of Clintonville. John Johnson of Waupaca. 23 Grandchildren, 2 Great Grandchildren and Brothers: Clifford (Sandy) Nelson of Iowa, Gene (Jeanette) Nelson of Manawa. He was preceded in death by Two Brothers: Paul & Gary Nelson and One Sister: Jane Nelson. Funeral Service will be held at Voie Funeral Home, Iola, Wisconsin, at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 26th, with Reverend Mark E. Sabin officiating.
