Mary J. Meagher

Mary J. Meagher, age 81, of Iola, died Friday, January 21st, 2011 at Iola Living Assistance. Mary was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota on September 25, 1929, the daughter of the late Harold and Maude (Koehnke) Ford. Mary married Keith J. "Red" Meagher on September 14, 1949 in Grand Forks. He preceded her in death on October 5, 2004. She had worked as a cashier at First National Bank in Iola for over 20 years. Mary loved kittens, cats camping, sewing and knitting. She also loved watching her grandchildren participate in sports and other activities. Mary had served on the Board of Directors of the Iola Hospital. She is survived by; Sons: Bruce (Laura) Meagher of Iola. Rodney (Marie) Meagher of Minden, NV. Paul (Darlene) Meagher of New London. Ken (Jo) Meagher of Amarillo, TX. Mary is also survived by eleven Grandchildren and nine Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a Sister: Dorothy Johnson and two Brothers: Robert & Chester Ford and Daughter in law: Beth Meagher. Funeral Service will be held at Scandinavia Lutheran Church at 1:00 PM on Friday, January 28th, with Reverend Mark E. Sabin officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 11 AM - 1 PM . Interment will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Iola. A memorial has been established to the Iola Living Assistance.
